Ceramics - manuFACTORY

manuFACTORY was founded in November 2010 by ceramist Uta Koloczek. She completed her studies in Sculpture/Ceramics and Ceramics/Glass Design at the Hochschule für Kunst und Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, at Ohio University and the University of Oregon in the USA and at the University of Art and Design Helsinki in Finland. She collaborates with the oldest porcelain factory in Rudolstadt, Goebel Porcelain Factory and Reichenbach Porcelain Factory.

The idea of accepting assignments from other designers in her own workshop arose from the plight of her designer friends when they could not find manufacturers for their projects. Larger factories often only produce from 10,000 pieces and do not have the capacity to produce individual prototypes or smaller runs. Since then, Uta has specialized in this work and enjoys the varied and exciting collaboration.

Uta is supported by product designers, interns and freelancers who work permanently in the workshop and help her with larger projects.

Hans Knudsen Institute - Social Efforts

For more than 100 years, we have worked with people who have a physical or mental disability. In Social Interventions, we offer protected employment according to §103 as well as activity and social services according to §104 of the Service Act.

The offer is primarily for people with significant functional limitations who have been granted early retirement and who have been searched by their municipality. This often involves people with psychiatric diagnoses and/or people with developmental disabilities.

We are a working community where employees develop professionally, personally and socially. It takes place in a safe environment, so there is also the opportunity to make new friends.

Social Efforts also act as a springboard to jobs on ordinary or special terms, because as a protected employee you are trained to go to work. The workshops are run by pedagogically and professionally trained staff, and our production is sold on market terms.
